To Whom It May Concern:
As a primary care health care practitioner, I commonly refer patients to Yoga for a variety of issues from musculoskeletal disorders to back pain, lack of flexibility and for physical fitness in the form of exercise. For more difficult patients, however, like those who suffer from non-acute disc problems, stenosis, degenerative diseases and a variety of other potentially complicated presentations, normal group led Yoga classes are not the best forum for them. It is my opinion they should be referred to a Yoga therapist for a more personalized one-on-one training, from which the patient will experience more positive end results.
Yoga therapy applies the practice of Yoga postures and techniques toward relieving and healing specific health challenges and this requires advanced training beyond the normal Yoga teacher instruction.
Lynn Barclay is an intelligent and dedicated practitioner of Yoga and in my opinion is one of the best Yoga therapists in Nevada. She is certified as a Yoga therapist by Loyola Marymount University after having completed an extensive 2-year course led by various members of the health care community, i.e. medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, etc. As a guest faculty member in the program (teaching biomechanics, anatomy, injuries and adjunctive therapies), I had the opportunity to get to know Lynn and was impressed by her comprehension and enthusiasm. Her compassion for her clients and her understanding of how to use Yoga to help influence healing is indicative of her level of dedication.
If you are a doctor, health care provider or are personally seeking help, I recommend Lynn. She will work in conjunction with your treatment and help develop a Yoga program that will safely and effectively help to restore the activities of daily living, aide in the advancement to the overall quality of life and improvement in the feelings of general well-being.
Graciously,
